Just Cause 2 is the sequel to the 2006 game. It’s a sandbox style game (much like Far Cry 2 or Grand Theft Auto), currently in development by Avalanche Studios and to be published by Eidos. There is no specific release date yet, but it is set for 2010.
Just Cause 2 will be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
The action in the game takes place in Panau, the Malay Archipelago, Southern Asia and you take the role of Rico Rodriguez. Your job is to defeat an evil dictator named Baby Panay and face off your old boss – Tom Sheldon.
You will be free to explore the game world and wreck chaos however you want without having to focus on the objectives, but you have to complete them all to beat the Just Cause 2. An addition to the newly developed Avalanche 2.0 engine is the included planning system for the AI, which makes them adapt to the environment and take cover behind nearby objects. Another addition is the adaptive difficulty system, which makes the game as hard as the player’s skills are (like Left 4 Dead’s “Director” changes the number of spawned enemies and their location based on the player’s dynamically analysed skills).
There are a lot of gameplay related additions, such as new weapons and vehicles.
At first your hero acquires guns manually, but later you can buy them off The Black Market.
